ABOUT VICTORIA WAI
Victoria Wai, formally 137 Imaging, is a music photographer meaning that she captures anything from musicians onstage to soundcheck and backstage.
Through her years in music photography she has developed writing skills for local, national and international blogs and on this website her own blogs: Walk On The Wai Side – Music Reviews
Word Of Wai – Photography In Other Areas & Other Ramblings
Of her work, in music and documentary, it has been noted that, “(She) makes music for the eyes” and that she is ninja-like, in that she is very discreet in movement and sound, therefore not spoiling the performance for both the performer and the viewer. This practice also applies to all the other photography she undertakes so why not WORK WITH HER?
Victoria attended her first concert at the age of 14 and had a 110mm film format camera where she got 5 decent images but this led to a passion in photography and went on to get one of the highest results in the region for A-Level Photography and then onto study and gain a Joint Honours Degree in Photography & Time-Based Media And American Studies. After living in London and backpacking Australia Victoria became well known on the Newcastle live music scene and has steadily branched out to London. Working in live music and being able to maneouvre quite discreetly especially when there is no photo pit has led Victoria to working more behind the scenes in studios and at soundcheck for musicians as well as Event Photography and now Theatre.
Working with film is a huge passion of Victoria’s and has recently started working more with Polaroids but in this ever fast pace world she does a lot of her work in the digital format and when events allow she will also capture video footage alongside the stills.
